Prof. Chadha On Obama Presidential Center Exhibition Design Team

Adjunct Assistant Professor Monica Chadha, founder of the firm Civic Projects, was recently selected as a member of the Obama Presidential Center (OPC) exhibition design team.

The interdisciplinary exhibition design team will be led by Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) and will include several firms and individuals with expertise in media, lighting, and acoustics. Chicago-based collaborators will play important roles in the exhibition design process, including Chadha's Civic Projects (this project is in collaboration with part time IIT CoA professor, Jennifer Park of Jurassic Studio), the design firm Normal, and the artists and educators Amanda Williams (CoA Adjunct Associate Professor), Andres Hernandez, and Norman Teague. (Note: Teague is also a collaborator with Civic Projects.) Almost half of the exhibition design work for the OPC will be performed by minority- and woman-owned businesses.

“We look forward to the opportunity to partner with RAA and to work with this outstanding team," Chadha says. "Our goal is not only to design a meaningful experience, but to actively engage with the local community in the process of developing that experience.”
