LECTURE + AWARD OF MERIT: AKIHISA MIWA

AKIHISA MIWA (M.S. OR ’83) will deliver a lecture entitled TOKYO SKYTREE to ELEVATOR TO OUTER SPACE, on Monday, December 11 at 11am in S. R. Crown Hall, followed by a reception at noon.

Join us as we welcome Akihisa Miwa (M.S. OR ’83) to Mies Campus to receive the Illinois Tech Alumni Association's International Award of Merit. Following the award presentation by President Alan W. Cramb, Miwa will speak about the groundbrreaking work of his company, Obayashi Corporation.

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Obayashi Corporation is one of the world's leading construction contractors, known for the Tokyo Skytree, the world's highest free-standing broadcasting tower and the second tallest man-made structure in the world. Hear about the innovations that made the Skytree possible, and learn about Obayashi's concept for the world's first elevator to outer space.
