Please join Illinois Institute of Technology President Alan W. Cramb, Interim Provost Russell Betts, faculty, staff, and students as we honor Michelangelo Sabatino at the investiture for the Rowe Family College of Architecture Dean Endowed Chair on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. in the MTCC Auditorium.

Michelangelo Sabatino is an architect, preservationist, and historian whose research broadly addresses intersections between culture, technology, and design in the built and natural environments. Sabatino earned a Laurea in Architecture at the Università Iuav di Venezia and a doctorate from the Department of Fine Art, University of Toronto, and pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of History of Art + Architecture, Harvard University. His monograph Pride in Modesty: Modernist Architecture and the Vernacular Tradition in Italy (2011) was recognized with multiple awards including the Society of Architectural Historians’ Alice Davis Book Hitchcock Award. Sabatino is the inaugural John Vinci Distinguished Research Fellow.

*Recipients of endowed chairs at IIT receive a Brno Chair with Flat Bar designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1930 for his Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic.
