IIT @ SOFA

Five freshman pavilions from IIT campus to be exhibited as part of the SOFA Connect portion of the Exposition. The work will be displayed at Navy Pier, Nov. 4-6, 2016.

The 23rd edition of SOFA CHICAGO will showcase the best of the best, with more than 70 galleries with works by both emerging and established artists in ceramics, wood, glass, fiber, jewelry, metal, design, painting, photography and works on paper. See full schedule.

The IIT Student exhibition at SOFA Connect is a collaborative effort produced within the IIT Design Build Studio culture. The collective emphasis is on “making,” and the intervention of made objects within an environment, specifically typological elements that create seating and foster human gatherings.

The four-day exhibition will display a collection of projects employing both digital and hand fabrication methods, designed and made by the students. The projects include a selection of observations, research and built objects, supporting the thesis that physically making an idea -- from concept to functional object -- is a unique and critical educational experience for an architecture student.
